TEHRAN, Nov. 18 (Mehr News Agency) - Auza, the warship Iraq lost 27 years ago - during the early days of its war against Iran - will move toward the Museum of Marine Industry of the Persian Gulf, a museum expert said on Saturday.
Auza will be launched at Bandar Abbas in southern Iran by order of Iranian Defense Minister Mostafa-Mohammad Najjar to sail to the southern port of Bushehr where the museum will be inaugurated, Kambiz Alempur added.
Iran's Defense Ministry, Bushehr Governor General's Office, and the Marine and Space Research Center of Malek Ashtar Industrial University have helped construct the museum in the former British Consulate premises.
Built by the former Soviet Union, the warship will be the second to be carried to the museum after the Persepolis, the first warship from the time of Nasser ad-Din Shah to provide security against foreign attacks in the Persian Gulf.
Germany gave the Persepolis to the agent of Nasser ad-Din Shah of the Qajar dynasty in the 19th century.
