The Ministry of Forreign Affairs, the Nobel Peace Center and Films from the South have worked together to bring Shirin Ebadi to Norway.

She is here on an official visit October 4. - 7. During her stay she will open Films From the South thursday the 5th of October in Vika Kino. She will also be participating in a seminar hosted by the Nobel Peace Center saturday October the 7th.

Festival director Lasse Skagen:

"Everyone is currently watching what is happening in Iran and waiting to see how they will respond to the threat of UN and US sanctions if they do not stop their efforts to enrich Uranium. Dr. Ebadi is also under enormous pressure since the Center For Defence of Human Rights was decleared illegal. Focusing on Iran in this years festival therefore serves several purposes."
