Tehran, Oct 2, IRNA-Director General of Welfare Organization for Children and Adults, Seyed Mohammad-Hossein Javadi, on Monday said that for the first time all children across the country will sign a treaty on children's rights on the Universal Children's Day, October 8.
According to a report released by the Public Relations Department of Welfare Organization, he expounded on the programs of the Universal Children's Day in Iran and said that Children's Week (October 2-8) will be celebrated all over Iran.
"Every day of Children's Week has been allocated to a particular group of children and a name has been assigned to them, for which special programs have been arranged.
"The days of Children's Week are called `Children and Family', `Children and Health', `Children and Equal Opportunities', `Children and Nursery', `Children, Media and Communication', `Children, Religious Values and Life Skills' and `Children and their Rights'," he added.
He noted that the event aims to support the rights of all nursery children, those with no guardians or inappropriate guardians as well as physically and mentally retarded children.
The official said that representatives of the United Nations International Children's Fund (UNICEF), the Police and Department of Environment will participate in the week-long ceremonies.
Javadi said that a symbolic ceremony, in which children will brush their teeth, will be held in front of all nationwide nurseries during the week.
