TEHRAN, Oct. 3 (Mehr News Agency) - The trade volume between the Republic of (South) Korea and Iran reached more than $5.6 billion last year, the Korean Ambassador to Tehran noted here on Monday. "If we keep the trend, we may achieve $20 billion of trade volume within a few years", he added.
Im Hong-Jae who was speaking in a press conference held at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Tehran, also elaborated on a number of other issues of mutual interest including economic relations between the two countries.
The Korean companies have also participated in the South Pars Development Project in Iran from its phase 1 to 10, he said adding, as a result, Iran becomes one of the most important economic partners and energy suppliers to Korea.
He also referred to the Agreement on Avoidance of Double Taxation and Trade Agreement reached during the 10th Iran and Korea Joint Economic Commission last July in Seoul and said that the agreements paved the grounds for building a strong institutional infrastructure for further economic cooperation.
The official who was commenting on the occasion of the Korean National Foundation Day also pointed to the human exchanges between the two nations and said that the level reached 10,000 people last year.
He further stated that Korea wanted to share with Iran its experience of economic development and technological know-how it achieved so that it would create a far reaching synergy effect.
