Iranian director Behruz Gharibpur is currently staging the opera puppet show "Rustam and Sohrab" at the Dubai Community Theater and Arts Center (Ductac) to raise funds for Lebanese children who lost their parents during the attacks by Israel last summer, Mehr News Agency reported from Iran.
Before he left for the United Arab Emirates, Gharibpur had said that children are more vulnerable to war, adding that he would try to remind artists about their key role in promoting world peace through his play.
The performances began on October 3 and will run until October 10.
"Rustam and Sohrab" is the first opera puppet show based on a Shahnameh story. One hundred puppets and 15 puppeteers bring the show to life. The puppets were designed and produced in Austria and the music was composed by Loris Tjeknavorian.
