Kerman, Oct 9, IRNA-An earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale hit outskirts of the city of Zarand in the southeastern province of Kerman on Monday.
The seismological base of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University registered the quake at 11:13 hours local time (0743 GMT).
The quake was epicentered in an area measuring 56.8 degrees in longitude and 30.74 degrees in latitude, the report added.
There are no reports of any casualty or damage to property caused by the quake.
Iran is often hit by quakes of varying magnitudes as it sits on some of the world's most active seismic faultlines.
