TEHRAN, Oct. 16 (Mehr News Agency) -- Mona Zandi's directorial debut "Friday Evening" won the Special Jury Prize of the International Women's Film Festival during the closing ceremony in Cologne on October 15.
Starring Roya Nonahali, Hanieh Tavassoli, Mehrdad Sediqian, and Ramin Rastad, the film tells the story of a woman called Sogand and her son Omid who are shunned by her family and thus experience hard times.
This year's festival spotlighted Iranian women's cinema with a section entitled "Iran in Focus", in which a number of Iranian films were screened and scholars and critics gave lectures.
Iranian director Tahmineh Milani was a jury member of the festival, which opened on October 11.
