TEHRAN, Oct 20 (ISNA)-Daimler Chrysler after various negotiations has decided to turn over all its shares of Iran's Benz to Iran Khodro.
Iran's Benz Co. was established through a fifty-fifty share between the Iranian and the German side so to supervise and execute all after sale services for Mercedes Benz products in Iran, but now Benz after two years has decided to turn over all its shares to the Iranian side.
Rumors note that this decision was made due to the pressures placed by Chrysler, the U.S. partner of Daimler.
Other rumors quote that this decision alongside the decision to reduce work force in Iran was made because of the 100 percent reduction of Mercedes Benz trucks sale in Iran and the entry of Chinese Hugo trucks.
Now with all these new events taking place the Iranian company's activities have been limited to sale, after sale service, supervision over production and market research.
This is while in 2004 Mercedes Benz had a very ambitious plan for Iran. According to this program Benz anticipated to produce annually 2500 vehicles in Iran. Of course this company's sub-branch, Top Khodro, which is responsible for manufacturing sedans in Iran, has announced that taking the production figure to 5 thousand annually is beneficial.
Top Khodro this year and up to now has produced approximately sixty E350 which this in itself doesn't seem so promising.
Of course this should be considered that this company has only started its manufacturing activities from the 9th of May.
Also Mercedes Benz has announced that it will import over one thousand of its models which except for the class E that is being produced in Iran will include classes CLS, C, S and B.
