"iran.com - Iranian Art today" is one
of the most extensive exhibitions of contemporary Iranian art shown in Germany
in the last few years.

This exhibition is the first comprehensive presentation of contemporary
Iranian art which has been realized by a German museum.
15 exhibits from the young and middle generations
will be shown, encompassing all areas of the fine arts: painting, object art,
sculpture, video, installation and photography. All the artists live and work in
Iran. The central question posed by the exhibition is: how does their art
reflect social reality, cultural context, political and religious authority,
everyday living conditions? The art which will be presented deals primarily with
the themes of borders and conveys the contradictions in contemporary Iranian
society. Art, which subtly bring metaphoric into play. Art, which is in
international discussion, without losing its Iranian roots.
EVENTS
Parallel to the
main exhibition in the Museum of New Art, there will be events held all over
Freiburg from the middle of October 2006 to the end of January 2007. iran.com –
dialogues and cultural networks is a broadly-based cooperative project.
The aim is not simply to highlight various facets of Iranian reality by
means of the exhibitions, films, readings and debates, but also to promote
dialogues between Iranian and German artists and to build networks. Not only
networks between Iran and Germany, between Isfahan and Freiburg, but also within
Freiburg itself.
Children/Teens
iran.com also includes events for children
and teens. The Lirum Larum Lesefest and Stories, the two literature and reading
festivals which have been organized by the Freiburg Department of Culture for
many years, have Iran as one of their focuses this year. This includes readings
from Iranian authors of children's and young adults' books in schools and
elsewhere. Film series, workshops, an exhibition of children's book
illustrations, and much more. Lirum Larum Lesefest and Stories will take place
from 11 to 16 October 2006.
