Isfahan to Host the First Festival of Purebred Persian Horses

The first show to introduce Persian horses will be held in the city of Isfahan under the title of "Myths of Elegance."

Tehran, 23 October 2006 (CHN) -- The first festival of purebred Persian horses will be held in the city of Isfahan, "Cultural Capital" of Islamic countries in 2006 from 8-10 of November 2006 with the participation of Turkmen, Kurd, Iranian-Arab and Dare Shouri horses. This festival is organized by Isfahan's Horse Riding Association with the cooperation of Agricultural-Jihad Organization, Isfahan's Horse Riding Federation and Iran Sport Organization.

This festival is titled "Myth of Elegance" and will be held in order to introduce purebred Persian horses and promote the culture of horse breeding to encourage investors and horse breeders preserve purebred Persian horses.

Persian horses are considered unique in the world and are among the most ancient races of horse. Since the beginning of history, horse had a very prominent role in the Iranians' life. Historical evidence such as bas-reliefs and sculptures found in different parts of Iran as well as depictions of horse on the walls of the ancient palace of Persepolis can be taken as proofs of this fact.

The upcoming event also aims at promoting Isfanah's sport tourism and ecotourism. Alongside the show of Purebred Persian Horses, an exhibition of riding equipments will also be held and some experts will give lectures about Persian horses.
