TEHRAN, Oct. 29 (Mehr News Agency) - The first 'Women Bank' in Iran is to be opened with the objective to plan and create entrepreneurial opportunities for women, head of Women Assembly of Iran Islamic Councils said in Tehran on Saturday.
The Women Bank follows the goal of supporting women in entrepreneurial, economic and social spheres, IWNA quoted Sadigheh Ghannadi speaking at the ninth assembly of women members at Iranian Islamic Councils.
"The bank also aims at creating economic interests and income for all women, concentrating on poor stratum of the society and generating assets for them," she noted.
"Women have proven that they are more responsible than men in economic affairs and we should capitalize on that," she maintained.
The Women Bank is to work along with other banks in the country and the interest-free accounts and women NGOs could be among the shareholders of the bank, Ghannadi stipulated.
The draft is to be presented to Majlis after being approved by the Supreme Council of Cultural Revolution, she affirmed.
Regarding the other resolutions implemented by the council, Ghannadi announced, "Administrative strategies for developing the culture of chastity and wearing hijab were studied at the council and related work has already begun at the cities of Tehran, Mashhad, Qom and Yazd.
Other pending drafts such as allocation of the pension of deceased women employees to their children and husband, problems of single-women household, and pre- and post-marriage consultations were also studied in this session, she said in conclusion.
