Ahvaz, Oct 30, IRNA-Oil Minister Kazem Vaziri Hamaneh on Monday commissioned Maroon Khami gas reservoir. Executive works for development of the major gas field had begun since March 2003.
He said in the inauguration ceremony that development project of Maroon Khami was the most unique gas project in the country and Middle East region and putting it into operation will increase the current capacity of the national gas reservoir by 33 million cubic feet.
Vaziri Hamaneh said that the oil industry has been permanently serving the lofty aspirations of the Islamic Revolution and had been watchful in protecting the national wealth.
He reassured about the healthy nature of oil industry and industrialists and said that there was no longer a vestige for any negative rumors about administration of the oil industry.
Referring to the 28 project now under construction, he told the reporters that there were good projects currently being done in the country the greatest of which were those related to the gas project in South Pars Oil Field.
Presently, six phases of the South Pars is about to put to tender, the contract for four of the phases have been already signed, and from the other five phases under execution, three phases would be put into operation until the end of the current Iranian year (March 2007) and the other two would be commissioned until October 2007, he stated.
He also added that talks were held with Chinese officials on the North Pars Gas Field Project and expressed hope that its contract would be finalized by the end of the current Iranian year.
He further said that three extra refinery plants will be established and two other will be developed.
Meanwhile, Managing Director of the National South Oil-Rich Regions Company Seyfollah Jashnsaz said that the company is working as an important economic pillar which plays a critical role in national economy.
"This company has acted as a source of many effective services for the country both before and after the Islamic Revolution." Maroon Khami gas reservoir is in a unique position among the ones discovered so far in Iran.
The South Oil-Rich Regions Company executed the engineering project with the ECP method to supply part of the gas required for Maroon Asmari and also to extract and export the gas liquids in Maroon Khami.
