TEHRAN, Oct. 30 (Mehr News Agency) - In addition to foreign purchases of communication equipments and parts, six million cell phones and accessories will be domestically produced for Iran's mobile phone industry, the Minister of Industries and Mines Alireza Tahmasbi noted on Monday.
A consortium comprising of domestic communication equipment and part manufacturers, a number of mobile phone suppliers and the Ministry of Industries and Mines has expressed its readiness to conclude a contract with the ministry to supply six million communication equipments and parts for the nation's growing mobile phone industry, he announced.
The nation's communications sector is one of the fields that has not made suitable use of the investments made in the industry. He added that the industry called for designing in its technical and software sectors.
In line with the emphases given by President Mahmud Ahmadinejad on development of the nation's cellular phone network and optimization of its operation, Ministry of Industries and Mines and Ministry of Communications and Information Technology have agreed to focus their efforts to that effect, Tahmasbi stated.
