Tehran, Sept 16, IRNA-An earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale hit the outskirts of the city of Shirvan in the northeastern province of North Khorasan on Saturday.
The seismological base of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University registered the quake at 14:12 hours local time (1042 GMT).
The quake was epicentered in an area located at 57.75 degrees longitude and 37.60 degrees latitude, the report added.
There are no reports of any casualty or damage to property caused by the quake.
Iran is often hit by quakes of varying magnitudes as it lies on some of the world's most active seismic faultlines.
