Iranian President leaves Cuba for Venezuela

Havana, Sept 17, IRNA-President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad wrapped up his three-day visit to Cuba and left for Venezuela on Sunday.

While in Cuba, he attended the NAM summit (September 15-16) and held separate meetings with his counterparts from other NAM member states on the sidelines of the summit.

The president also participated in a meeting of the G-15.

Ahmadinejad is going to visit Venezuela at the official invitation of his Venezuelan counterpart Hugo Chavez.

His visit to Venezuela would be the last phase of his three-nation tour which started last Wednesday with a nine-hour visit to Senegal.

The president, will not be returning to Tehran at the end of his visit to Venezuela.

He will proceed to New York to attend the 61st annual session of the United Nations General Assembly from September 19-27.

He is also scheduled to address the session and meet leaders of various countries on the sidelines of the General Assembly meeting.

During his stay in Havana, Ahmadinejad conferred with officials from NAM states on issues of mutual interest as well as regional developments.
