I want to share one of Tehran's simple pleasures. I love flowers and I try never to go anywhere empty handed and I think most Tehran flower shops do a great job of wrapping and decorating the flowers you choose. This includes the small ones and the ones with no frills and fancy decor - and not only the elegant flower boutiques - they are too fancy and expensive to be considered shops - in north Tehran.
A few nights ago we went to visit my cousin Ramin who had been hit by a car while standing at the side of the road. The driver of the car did not stop to help him or take him to the hospital, nor would any other driver out of fear of being blamed for the accident. He has broken his shoulder and upper arm and had a bad wound on the back of his leg, where he has received many stitches. He was staying with his sister Maryam at Ekbatan, a major housing complex near Tehran Mehrabad airport. There we stopped by Mr. Mahdavi's small flower shop and chose some gerberas.
Yesterday we went to pay our respect to our friend's family who had lost a dear brother recently during our absence and I called my old friend Mr. Nematt, whose flower shop is near the street where we were to visit in Shahid Behesthi and asked for a bouquet with white flowers with black ribbon. It is always a delight to visit old friends, and we always go through the same routine with him. He never wants to take any payment for our order and we insist that he should and I end up using my threat that I will never call him again which always wins the argument!
Here I have a few pictures from two simple and ordinary flower shops in Tehran that we went to for our flowers last week. May your lives be as happy and colorful as these flowers are!
