TEHRAN, Sept. 19 (Mehr News Agency) - Zam Zam Group is the largest producer of soft drinks in Iran. At the moment, it is coming up with new generation of beverages using date extract in place of common types of sugar employed in this industry, chief executive officer of the company said on Tuesday.
The new product called 'Classic' is first of the kind in the world to hit the market soon and it entails two years of research work, Ahmad Moqaddam-Adel told the press, adding another new drink with mulberry taste is going to be introduced to consumers in 10 days.
Zam Zam has been selected as the exemplary manufacturing unit and exporter for two consecutive years in the country and 20 different products under its license are produced in or exported to 32 countries around the globe.
Germany, Great Britain, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Algeria, Malaysia and Turkey are among the group's licensees and the lines in Iraq, Kuwait, Sudan and Bangladesh are to assume production within a year, he said.
In continuation, the export manager Abolhasani set the company's output at 3 billion bottles per annum which stands for 40% of domestic consumption. The export figure was reported at $50m for last year and the first five months of the current Iranian year (March 21 to August 22, 2006) assumed $25m mark.
The company is capable of growing to $2b export level if supported consistently, he maintained.
