Tehran, Sept 24, IRNA-Minister of Commerce Masoud Mirkazemi on Sunday called for speeding up accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) saying it is the first step for economic development.
In his lecture to the seventeenth meeting of the Committee on Boosting Non-oil Exports, Mirkazemi urged establishment of a committee for studying and providing executive ways for boosting trade with the Persian Gulf countries and speeding up the WTO accession.
He recommended signing bilateral and multi-lateral agreements with Iranian trade partners in order to help solve part of the problems of Iranian exporters.
The seventeenth session of committee for expansion of on-oil exports was convened in the Commerce Ministry in presence of the minister, chief of the Organization for Trade Development, acting deputy minister for international affairs, Managing Director of the Exports Development Bank of Iran (EDBI) and chief of Iran's exports guarantee fund and representatives from Iran's Chamber of Commerce (ICC).
Mirkazemi stressed the need for solving problems of traders and exporters and creating favorite conditions for activities of the exporting enterprises.
The meeting also studied a report In this session also a report provided about the latest developments in the international organizations relating to Iran, the situation of markets and status of regional trade agreements and adopting regional criteria for joining the WTO.
Benefits of economic convergence, creating environment for competition, security for ownership rights, suitable policies for macro economy and reliable system for arbitration to resolve disputes as the basic successful regional trade policies also were discussed in the session.
