Iran-EU nuclear talks to resume in Berlin: Iranian FM calls for support of all parties
Source: IRNA

European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana is to meet Iran's top nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani in Berlin at 5 pm (3 GMT) Wednesday.

Solana's spokesperson Cristina Gallach, who is accompanying the EU high representative, said the Berlin 'meeting will continue to the create the condition for negotiations'.

Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki on Tuesday urged all parties involved in Iran's peaceful nuclear project to support a negotiated settlement.

"With a view to the existing atmosphere of understanding in the talks, one can be optimistic about the outcome of negotiations" between Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Ali Larijani and EU chief negotiator Javier Solana, Mottaki told IRNA.

Winding up his trip to New York to attend the annual UN General Assembly session, the Iranian minister said Tehran "supported the realistic approach that negotiation is the only secure and sound way to settle the issues related to Iran's peaceful nuclear program." Larijani and Solana, he added, are due to meet in a European country on Wednesday after their third round of talks scheduled to take place in New York was delayed due to visa problems caused by the US administration.

"We are optimistic over the outcome of talks," Mottaki said.

"It seems that Europe is united on following the diplomatic path."
