As one of the most advanced semi-floating drilling rigs, Iran-Alborz is made by Iran Marine Industrial Co. (SADRA), added Asghar Rafiei.
The project is completed in collaboration with the Chinese experts, he revealed.
A definite deadline has not been set, however, it is expected that the job will be done in the current year, Rafiei said.
Pointing to the latest developments in the Khesht oilfield, near the southern cities of Shiraz and Bushehr, the official said that the company has taken required steps toward the drilling of the second oil well in the region.
According to him, four production wells as well as one injection well are drilled in the area.
Corn, which due to shortage of water in Iran cannot be cultivated, gives off ethanol, a cheap fuel, he added.
He said the contract worth $150 million, adding that a plot of land will be allocated to the project for 50 years and the fuel will be exported to Austria, Germany, and Black Sea.
