Iran celebrates nuclear enrichment breakthrough

NATANZ, April 9 (Mehr News Agency) -- Iran started celebrating its attainment of uranium enrichment at the industrial level on Monday at the Natanz nuclear enrichment facility.

President Mahmud Ahmadinejad, some cabinet ministers, Majlis deputies, foreign ambassadors, and some other officials attended the ceremony in which nationalistic songs were performed.

"I announce with full honor that from today Iran is among the countries which produce industrial nuclear fuel," Ahmadinejad declared.

The president congratulated the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, the great Iranian nation, and all free nations across the world on this great achievement.

He said the path taken by Iran cannot be changed.

"They should know that the Iranian people's path to progress is irreversible."

"Until today, our nation has acted entirely based on the rules and regulations which they themselves (major powers) have drafted and taken this peaceful path and is also interested to continue on this path."

However, he warned, "They should be careful to avoid doing something that would cause this brave and great nation to revise its behavior with them. They have repeatedly experienced and seen that this nation has the ability to do that."

The president advised Western powers to stop breaching laws, acting irrationally, and showing animosity toward the Iranian nation over its peaceful nuclear program.

"This is our advice: it is better for them to recognize the legal rights of nations and to stop selfishness, monopolization, and animosity because it will not be to their benefit."

He added, "Definitely, the noble Iranian nation welcomes any legal and just approach for talks and tackling issues."

"Undoubtedly, justice, the acknowledgment of rights, and friendship are good for all and all benefit from them."

Pointing to the benefits of nuclear fuel as an alternative to fossil fuels, which cause much environmental damage, the president said, "Nuclear energy benefits all the people in the world."

Since Iran is determined to produce 20,000 megawatts of electricity through nuclear power plants, it is ready to "shake hands with countries willing to cooperate with Iran" in this regard, he added.
