Shahr-e Kord, Charmahal-Bakhtiari prov, April 15, IRNA - Secretary of Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) headquarters of the Rehabilitation Organization said on Sunday that the international conference on CBR will be held in Iran in 2009.
Ali-Reza Ahmadieh made the remarks on the sidelines of the Welfare and CBR Seminar in Shahr-e Kord, Charmahal-Bakhtiari province while speaking to correspondents, adding that Iran expressed its eagerness to host the event at the CBR headquarters in Geneva.
According to the official, CBR headquarters of Iran has expanded cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO), the International Labor Organization (ILO), UNESCO, UNICEF as well as two non-governmental organizations of HI and IR.
CBR Iran's headquarters welcomes the Majlis ratification of ceding support sections to the Late Imam Khomeini Relief Committee, he noted.
"The per capita spending on disabled Iranians is 270,000 rials at present," he said, adding, "Even if this figure increases to 10 million rials but the attitude of the society does not change towards the disabled, it would be ineffective."
Credits of the organization increased to eight million rials in the Iranian year 1385 (ended March 20, 2007), he said, calling for a five-fold increase in facilities in the new Iranian calendar year (started March 21, 2007).
Ahmadieh noted that the CBR is active in 30 provinces and 110 cities, and the its councils include members of city councils and social workers.
"CBR program includes training of family members from all walks of life, referral of the disabled to his or her family and rehabilitation centers, delivery of aid, job creating activities, and social protection," he noted.
The Rehabilitation Organization of Iran has so far identified some 70,000 disabled, of whom some 56,000 persons, or 80 percent, have benefited from CBR services and the rest will be covered by such services by the end of the current year.
Some 60 experts of the Rehabilitation Organization and CBR Headquarters of Iran took part the seminar to exchange views on research and scientific subjects.
