New Delhi, April 21, IRNA - Members of Cultural Commission of Iranian Parliament emphasised that women in Iran are free to participate in every part of social life.
The three member Iranian delegation comprising Mrs. Fatemeh Rahbar, Mrs. Fatemeh Alia and Laleh Iftekhari while talking to the media persons in the premises of Iranian Culture House in New Delhi said that the Leader of the Islamic Revolution of Iran Ayatollah Khamenei has always encouraged the women for active participation in every walk of social life.
Replying to a question with regard to the condition of women in Iran, the delegation members said that besides being the members of Parliament, women are heading at least two advisory commission to the President of Iran namely on environment and women's welfare.
Also they are heading different universities, educational institutions and hospitals. They are present in large number in the Iranian judiciary also.
Elaborating on the purpose of their visit to India, the Iranian delegation said that it was mainly to have a close survey of the workings of the cultural house and cultural consulate as well as having interaction with different Indian organisations and individuals to know more about India and explore the ways for strengthening the historical cultural relations between the two great nations of India and Iran.
On this occasion the members of cultural commission of Iranian Parliament thanked the Indian people for their solidarity with the people of Iran in their endeavour in the scientific research for the peaceful energy program.
With regard to the decision of Iranian government for preserving historical monuments and other cultural heritage the women members of Iranian Parliament said that in principle Iran has taken the decision to help preserve the cultural heritage including the Persian manuscript in Iran and outside the country.
Mrs. Fatemeh Alia, Mrs. Fatemeh Rahbar and Laleh Iftekhari informed the Indian media persons that vice president of Iran who is in charge of cultural heritage department will be visiting India early next month to inaugurate the Iranian cultural week and hopefully that will help strengthen the historical cultural ties between India and Iran besides paving the way for preserving the historical monuments and other cultural heritage.
Replying to a question of IRNA correspondent on whether cultural relations or the political relations should be kept on higher pedestal the delegation members said powerful countries are trying to hegemonise on the weaker countries through their political culture but the Islamic Revolution which is mainly the cultural revolution trying to pave the way for the establishment of Justice and equality throughout the society.
On this occasion Mohammad Hussain Mozaffari director of the Iranian Culture House in New Delhi while introducing the Iranian women members of Parliament to the Indian media persons said that Iranian Islamic Revolution was mainly a cultural revolution.
Mozaffari also elaborated on the deep-rooted ties between India and Iran and expressed hope that the visit of women members of Iranian Parliament will help strengthen them more than before.
