TEHRAN, April 29 (Mehr News Agency)-- Major General Alireza Afshar said on Sunday that Israel can never be a threat to "powerful Iran".
"The Zionist regime's army, which was defeated by a few thousand forces of Hezbollah in an area of just 200 square kilometers, will not be a threat to a vast and powerful Iran," the director of the armed forces media affairs office said in a statement.
In an interview with Germany's Focus magazine on Saturday, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert claimed that Iran's nuclear program could be severely hit if 1,000 cruise missiles were to be fired in a 10-day attack.
"Olmert knows that the response to 1,000 missiles will be thousands of missiles," the general stated.
"The Zionist regime is fragile and far more vulnerable than Iran," he added.
"Olmert's statement is part of a psychological operation against Iran meant to prevent a change in the U.S. approach and to allow the continuation of the (U.S.) military presence in the region."
