International conference held on investment opportunities in Iran tourism industry

The first International Conference on Investment Opportunities in Iran's Tourism Industry which was held on 25-26th of August has been wrapped up with a fruitful result.

Tehran, 27 August 2007 (CHN) -- The first International Conference on Investment Opportunities in Iran's Tourism Industry inaugurated on 25th of August in Tehran with attendance of Mahmud Ahmadinejad, President of Iran, Francesco Frangialli, Secretary General of World Tourism Organization (WTO), Iranian Minster of Foreign Affairs, President of Iran's Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts, and Tourism Organization, as well as a large number of Iranian authorities and domestic and foreign investors and activists in tourism industry.

Although some problems caused due to managing shortages and lack of an appropriate schedule in this 2-day event, according to the participants, the Conference was fruitful and opened a new horizon for those who are interested to invest in Iran's tourism industry. Frangialli also expressed his satisfaction with the conference as a starting point and said that he would accept Iran's invitation to participate in similar events in future.

In the opening ceremony of the Conference, President of Iran also commented the necessary for holding such conferences in an attempt to promote Iran's tourism industry and asked all investors in the world to invest in the various areas of Iran's tourism industry. "Investment in the tourism industry and its infrastructure promotes human culture and friendship," said Ahmadinejad in his opening speech.

Pointing out to Iranians advocate peace, justice, and kindness, Iran's Minister for Foreign Affairs said that the Foreign Ministry will also support foreign investment in Iran's tourism industry. "Iran is a peaceful nation with a high civilization and a deep culture which lies on the Silk Road and is one of the world's top ten countries in terms of historical and cultural attractions," said Manouchehr Motaki, Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The first International Conference on Investment Opportunities in Iran's Tourism Industry aimed at to introduce and present Iran's enormous tourism capabilities and potentials to the world. Studying the strategies and legal incentives for development of investment in tourism sector, identifying investment opportunities in tourism sector throughout the country and producing suitable investment packages, increasing international awareness on possible tourism investment opportunities and attracting domestic and foreign investors, holding technical exhibition on investment opportunities and presenting them in the form of investment packages, and establishing suitable bases for realizing practical contribution among investors and owners of financial resources to build tourism facilities throughout the country, were among the other objectives for holding the Conference.

By wrapping up of the conference, a number of guests and participants will make a short visit to historical city of Isfahan which will provide them the chance to get familiar with the opportunities for investing in tourism industry of Isfahan province, as well as taking part in panels with presence of the provincial investors. In a dinner party which will be held on this occasion, Isfahan's governor and director of the Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts, and Tourism Department of Isfahan province will give a lecture in which they will try to resolve some ambiguities which may have still remained for the guests.

Attracting the cooperation of a large number of domestic and foreign companies to invest in Iran's tourism industry was one of the main achievements of the Conference. According to Mehdi Jahangiri, general director of Iran's Tourism Development Company, they have succeeded in attracting the participation of investors in 60 public projects in tourism industry. "More than 300 foreign investors have announced their readiness for investing in Iran's tourism industry. These companies are mainly the representatives of foreign companies," said Jahangiri to CHN.

He further explained that concurrent with the International Conference on Investment Opportunities in Iran's Tourism Industry, the special internet site for investing have been launched in two languages of Persian and English which is available at:

During the first International Conference on Investment Opportunities in Iran's Tourism Industry, 124 hotel projects, 166 interway projects, 46 water therapy projects, 20 ecotourism projects, 110 historical projects, 500 typical tourism region projects, 26 mega projects, and 60 private projects have been introduced and suggested for making investment.
