  • Forugh's beginnings: the poet's earliest work and her relationship with classical Persian poetry, in particular the ghazal
  • Forugh and the Nima School: the poet's place within and influence upon the modernist Persian poetry of the 1950s and 60s
  • Forugh as woman poet: the poet's interaction with other leading women poets of Iran and their work, in particular Parvin E'tesami and Simin Behbahani
  • Forugh as cultural icon: the poet's popularity in pre- and post-revolutionary Iran
  • Forugh and the diaspora: the poet's influence on Iranians writing beyond the borders of Iran
  • Forugh and the visual arts: the poet and her poetry as inspiration for other artists
  • Forugh and film: the poet's foray into the world of documentaries and film

The conference will be held over two days at the beginning of July 2008 at the University of Manchester, UK. All proposals (proposed length 300 words) should be received no later than 25th November 2007 to allow for efficient planning of the conference.
