TEHRAN,
Dec. 5 (Mehr News Agency) -- The programs of the 23rd Fajr International Music Festival were
announced during a press conference held here on Tuesday.
Festival secretary Kambiz Roshanravan said that the festival will feature a
national competition section, an international section, and a non-competition
section.
"Forty-two groups will be competing in the national section, 23 from Tehran and
19 from other cities, and each group will give two performances during the
festival," he added.
"Thirty-eight groups, including traditional, pop, and classical groups, will
give performances in the non-competition section. In addition, musicians will
deliver eight lectures in the sideline section," Roshanravan announced.
Groups from Austria, France, Romania, Norway, India, Turkey, the United States,
and other countries will be performing at this year's festival, he said.
The festival's executive secretary announced that students would be able to
purchase tickets to all the concerts at a 50 percent discount.
Ali Torabi also explained that the policy-making council of the festival decided
to not issue a newsletter this year since several brochures will be distributed
during the event which will cover all the performance dates and the locations of
the concert halls.
The concerts will be held at a number of venues, including Vahdat Hall, Rudaki
Hall, the Niavaran and Honar cultural centers, Avini Hall, and the Iranian
Artists Forum.
The 23rd edition of the Fajr International Music Festival will be held in Tehran
from December 21 to 29.
In the national competition section, the jury members of the traditional and
fusion sections will be Davud Ganjeii, Mohammad Sarir, Dariush Pirniakan, and
Arfa Torabi.
In the classical music section, Shahin Farhat, Akbar Mohammadi, and Soheil
Dehbasti will be the jury members.
The pop section jury members will be Ali Tafreshi, Mohammadreza Cheraghali, and
