Iran's gasoline imports drops 50% in 8 months

TEHRAN, Dec. 7 (Mehr News Agency) - Iran has witnessed an over 54 percent drop in gasoline imports in terms of weight and value in the first eight months of its current year (started March 21, 2007), reported an Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) official here on Friday.

Talking to MNA, Mohammadreza Naderi, the IRICA customs affairs head, said that over 2.281 million tons of the fuel valued at $1,504,900,000 was imported within the period.

He put the decreased imports helped the country save more than $1.787 billion.
