Tehran, Dec 9, IRNA - The interim chairman of Iranian Football Federation (IFF), Mohsen Safaei Farahani, said Iran will face problems if FIFA regulations are not met in IFF elections.
FIFA has opposed the candidacy of members of Iran's Physical Education Organization (PEO) in the IFF presidential elections, Farahani said.
"There are certain rules on who can and who cannot run for the IFF presidency," he said, adding that if FIFA objections are removed, there will be no ban for Iran, presstv.com quoted him as saying.
The IFF interim chairman rejected recent reports that FIFA and AFC will meet in Tokyo on December 15 in order to come to decision on the future of Iran.
Safaei Farahani stressed that FIFA had not opposed a delay in the IFF presidential elections until 2008 in a meeting held on Tuesday between Iran, FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).
One major problem is that until the election of the IFF president, the national football team will be without a coach, while 2010 World Cup qualifiers start in February 2008.
