Baghdad, Dec 16, IRNA - Iran's Ambassador to Baghdad Hassan Kazemi Qomi said on Sunday that no date has been set yet for the fourth rounds of Iran-US talks on Iraq's security.
Qomi in an exclusive interview with IRNA said an Iranian delegation is now in talks with Iraqi officials to set a timetable for the next round of talks.
The Iranian delegation is now in Baghdad to hold preliminary talks with Iraqi officials on holding next round of talks with the US.
Talks are underway between the two sides (Iranian and Iraqi) officials.
During its stay, the Iranian delegation have conferred with a number of Iraqi officials, Qomi said.
Iran underlines that talks should produce tangible results for the Iraqi people and lead to alleviation of sufferings of people and help the Iraqi government solve the country's security problems, he said.
During the talks, the Iraqi officials have unanimously underlined Iran's positive role in trilateral talks, Qomi said.
The Iranian delegation has voiced Iran's readiness to contribute to reconstruction of Iraq as well as upgrading the level of public services to Iraqi civilians, he said.
The Iraqi officials have underlined that trilateral talks would bring success for Iraq, Qomi said.
The Iranian ambassador expressed the hope that the trilateral talks would help put an end to Iraq's occupation, terrorism, improve security of Iraq and help restore the country's national sovereignty.
Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari declared on Saturday that the fourth round of trilateral talks among Iran, Iraq and the US on Iraq's security has been postponed until after Eid-e Adha (Feast of Sacrifice) which commemorates the end of annual Hajj ceremony.
Zebari announced this after his meeting with the Iranian delegation in Baghdad in which he also underlined that the postponement is due to technical reasons rather than political ones.
The previous rounds of talks were quite fruitful, he said, adding that the results of such meetings in political, security and psychological terms were quite acceptable.
