U.S. authorities in Iraq release Iranian diplomat

TEHRAN, Dec. 21 (ISNA)-U.S. authorities on Tuesday released another Iranian diplomat, kidnapped almost three years ago in Kurdistan, Iraq.

Iran's ambassador to Iraq told ISNA that Heidar Alawi was released to the Iraqi authorities' custody.

Alawi who was one of the 6 Iranian diplomats kept in U.S.-run prisons of Iraq is to head Iran today, said Hassan Kazemi Qomi.

Also 20 other Iranians all of them pilgrims for Shiites' holy shrines are in these prisons for entering Iraq without official permission by authorities.
