TEHRAN, Dec. 24 (ISNA)-Iranian officials welcome the U.S. respectful and logical approach to this country, the foreign minister said.
Concerning the U.S. Secretary of State's recent remarks, Manouchehr Mottaki said the U.S. officials have several times announced that they are ready to talk to the Iranian officials to eliminate the tension but in practice they pursued another way contradicting their remarks, he noted.
The U.S. officials have become aware that Iran plays a pretty significant role in the region and Iranians are determined to materialize their certain rights, he said.
Some U.S. approaches including imposing more sanctions against Iran, intensifying pressure, accusing Iran illegally and double standards over campaign against terrorism in the region contradict the U.S. remarks over its interest to talks with Iran, Mottaki pointed.
The foreign minister also continued to say that the U.S. must make sure that its policies and approaches are not aimed at reaching negative goals and to do so it should take constructive and practical steps confirming its good intention toward Iran.
Iranian officials believe that by creating bilateral respects and avoiding illogical charges against Iran it will be possible to pave the way for friendly transactions, he said.
The US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has recently announced "I'm prepared to meet my counterpart any place and anytime and we can talk about anything" if Tehran accepts UN Security Council resolutions and suspend its enrichment.
