ICRO to set up Persian cyber-faculty

TEHRAN, Dec. 24 (Mehr News Agency) -- A Persian language and literature cyber-faculty is to be set up for overseas students in the near future, the director of the Persian Literature and Language Development Department of ICRO, Abbasali Vafaii, announced this week.

"We have put forward several plans for the operation of the distance learning program. Our proposal must be approved by Iran's Ministry of Research, Science and Technology before we can set up the facility," he told the Mehr News Agency on Monday.

The courses used by native students at Iran's universities are not appropriate for students who don't speak Persian. The study programs used in this faculty will focus mainly on contemporary Iranian literature, he added.

Vafaii went on to say that foreign students would not enjoy topics such as those studied in Iran on the tales of Kalila and Dimna, since they contain difficult literary language. Such units would be omitted in the cyber-faculty, he mentioned.

This program will introduce Iran's contemporary literature worldwide and will thus aid in the fostering of friendly relations between Iran and other nations, he concluded.
