No tension in Egypt-Iran ties: Egyptian FM

Tehran, Dec 27, IRNA - There is no tension in Cairo-Tehran ties, Foreign Minister of Egypt Ahmed Ali Abdoul Gheit was quoted by the Qatar-based satellite network Al-Jazeera on Wednesday.

Gheit added that Iran and Egypt were holding serious talks to reach an understanding about all issues of mutual interest in order to restore full diplomatic relations between the two capitals.

Gheit made the remarks after his meeting with Representative of Iran's Supreme Leader, Ali Larijani, who is currently on a visit to Egypt.

Meanwhile, Larijani told reporters in Cairo that Iran enjoys "strategic ties with Arab states."

Larijani who arrived in Cairo on Monday has so far met with the Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa, head of Egypt's national security organization, Omar Sulayman, Grand Sheikh of Al-Az'har University Muhammad al-Tantawi and head of the Al-Az'har University Ahmad Tayyeb.
