TEHRAN, Feb. 4 (Mehr News Agency) -- Producing around 86,000 tons of chinaware per annum, Iran ranks second in the world only to China.
Iran commenced production of chinaware over 35 years ago. During the years before the victory of the Islamic Revolution, a number of china production plants totally produced about 5,180 tons of china per year therefore, it had to import parts of its domestic demands from abroad.
While Iran's nominal capacity of china production by the end of 2005 had reached 83,300 tons, the nation's production in the same year hit 50,237 tons. Production during the period increased by 6.8 percent compared with the year before.
Iran's per capita china use is something around 0.7 kg per year therefore, some 1,382.4 tons of the product worth around three million dollars was exported in 2005.
The world prices for the product are currently between $1.2 and $3. Iran's china is mostly exported to Kuwait, Turkey, the UAE, Georgia, Italy, Canada, the Netherlands, Germany, Qatar and Lebanon.
