TEHRAN, Feb. 7 (Mehr News Agency) -- Overall, production from Iranian automakers hit 891,050 sedans and heavy vehicles during the first ten months of the current year (Iranian year started March 21, 2006).
Passenger cars produced by Iranian auto manufacturers amounted to 747,571 units during the first ten months of the year. However, "Pride" sedans accounted for over 30 percent of the total output from the plants, production of the car during the period hit 329,230 units, the Persian service of ISNA reported on Wednesday.
Production from the nation's major carmaker, Iran Khodro Co. during the same period was as follows: "Peugeot Roa", 61,000, "Peugeot 405", 102,000, "Peugeot 206", 64,000 and "Peugeot Pars", 44,000. The company has also built around 2,000 compressed natural gas (CNG)-fueled "Peugeot 405" and 13,000 "Samand" as well as 11,000 "Peugeot RD" sedans.
Also during the ten-month period, another prominent auto producer of the nation, SAIPA manufactured 25,545 CNG-fueled "Pride" sedans bringing the number of the CNG-fueled passenger cars in the period to less than 60,000 in total that is short of the 280,000 units envisaged in the current year's budget plan.
Output from Kerman Khodro Co. included 2,000 Volkswagen Gol, 2,000 Hyundai Verna, 884 Hyundai Avante and 1,500 Chinese car, Matiz.
In addition, Iranian heavy vehicle producer companies manufactured some 3,000 sport utility vehicles (SUV), 3,300 buses and 14,000 trucks during the same period.
