Quake hits southern and northern Iranian cities

Tehran, Feb 13, IRNA - An earthquake measuring 4 on the Richter scale jolted outskirts of the city of Borazjan in the southern province of Bushehr Tuesday morning.

The seismological base of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University registered the quake at 07:15 hours local time (0345 GMT).

The quake was epicentered in an area measuring 51.31 degrees in longitude and 29.37 degrees in latitude, the report added.

Another earthquake measuring 3.6 on the Richter scale jolted outskirts of the city of Aq Qala in the northern province of Golestan Tuesday.

The seismological base of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University registered the quake at 12:30 hours local time (0900 GMT).

The quake was epicentered in an area measuring 54.5 degrees in longitude and 37.07 degrees in latitude, the report added.

There are no reports of any casualty or damage to property caused by either of the quakes.

Iran is often hit by quakes of varying magnitudes as it sits on some of the world's most active seismic faultlines.
