TEHRAN, Feb. 18 (Mehr News Agency) -- Iran is negotiating with its Caspian Sea neighbors over swapping gas to Europe, Oil Minister Kazem Vaziri-Hamaneh said in Tehran on Sunday.
The senior official noted that Iran is in talks with Caspian Sea littoral states such as Turkmenistan to use them as its routes for exporting gas to Europe.
He added that Iran would export gas in the form of liquefied natural gas (LNG).
The minister made remarks on the sideline of First Iran's Oil Refining Forum (IORF).
On a question when Iran would complete its gas export plans, Hamaneh commented that the issue is depending on projects currently underway. However, he predicted, "The volume of gas exports by Iran would increase in 2012."
The minister also said that the Oil Ministry has achieved to attract more foreign investment in the second half of the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2006) than the first half of the year.
First Iran's Oil Refining Forum opened here on Saturday at the IRIB International Conference Center (IICC). It ran for two day and was organized by the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC).
