Statement by Iranian Political Activists Supporting Dr. ElBaradei's Recommendations

The Iranian government has informed the International Atomic Energy Agency it will soon begin installing centrifuges for industrial production of Uranium. Whether this is true or not, it is a further step to increase the tension between Iran and major powers.  Other reports indicate plans by United States and Israel for aerial and sea attack on Iran.  Due to actions taken by Iran and the United States, logic of war has replaced any diplomatic measures to resolve the differences peacefully.

At the World Economic Forum in Davous, Director General of IAEA, Dr. ElBaradei while emphasizing that Iran is 3 to 8 years away from building the nuclear weapons, stated an attack on Iran unproductive and called upon the major powers to stop the international punishments against Iran and Iran to suspend its Uranium-enrichment program and open the discussions to resolve the crisis.

We, the undersigned, herby support Dr. ElBaradei recommendations. As the deadline set by Security Council resolution 1737 looms near, we call upon the Iranian Government to refrain from installing the centrifuges and to voluntary suspend its program while ask the great powers to suspend the economic sanctions and punishments and to open the dialogue.

We are concerned about the outcome of war and the danger Iran faces, believing that the crisis between Iran and the United Stated can not be solved by military action but through direct negotiations and compromise. Resolution of these differences requires tolerance by the big powers as well as clarity and the responsibility of the Islamic Republic.  In spite of our fundamental opposition to the political system of Iran and its foreign policy and our objection to the conditions it has created making it impossible for discussions and participation on important national issues, we condemn without reservation any attack on our homeland.
