Bandar Abbas, Hormuzgan Prov, Feb 20, IRNA - An earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale jolted outskirts of the port city of Bandar Abbas in the southern province of Hormuzgan Tuesday.
The seismological base of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University registered the quake at 12:53 hours local time (0923 GMT).
There are no reports of any casualty or damage to property caused by the quake.
Iran is often hit by quakes of varying magnitudes as it sits on some of the world's most active seismic faultlines.
