TEHRAN, Feb. 21 (Mehr News Agency) -- The First Biennial of Hand Printing Works opened at the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art on Tuesday.
"Hand printing has been regarded as an abstract medium and technique up to now," TMCA curator and Visual Arts Center (VAC) director Habibollah Sadeqi said during the opening ceremony of the biennial, which was attended by a number Iranian and foreign cultural figures.
"The TMCA and VAC aim to promote expressional values and various styles of art in society through showcasing works of great artists like CÚzanne, Picasso, Rembrandt, Matisse, and Goya," he added.
The exhibition, comprised of three sections, is displaying works of foreign and Iranian contemporary artists as well as a number of works from the Qajar period in nine galleries.
German Ambassador to Tehran Herbert Honsowitz also attended the ceremony and spoke to Sadeqi about holding an exhibition of German artists' works in Iran.
The biennial runs until March 19.
