TEHRAN, Feb. 27 (Mehr News Agency) -- Thirty eighth International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) will be held in Isfahan University of Technology from July 13 to 22, an Education Ministry official announced on Tuesday.

The advisor to the education minister Mohamad Sepehri-Rad said that Iran volunteered for hosting the IPhO in 1992 and eventually it was selected to hold the event in 2007.

The International Physics Olympiad is an annual physics competition for high school students. The first IPhO was held in Warsaw, Poland, in 1967.

Seventy eight countries have declared they will participate in the Olympiad, Sepehri-Rad said in a meeting held for planning the event.
