Quake hits Javadiyeh in central Iran

Tehran, Jan 3, IRNA-An earthquake measuring 4.2 on the Richter scale jolted outskirts of the city of Javadiyeh in the central province of Yazd Wednesday.

The seismological base of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, registered the quake at 11:19 hours local time (0749 GMT).

The quake was epicentered in an area measuring 55.54 degrees in longitude and 32.24 degrees in latitude, the report added.

There are no reports of any casualty or damage to property caused by the quake.

Iran is often hit by quakes of varying magnitudes as it sits on some of the world's most active seismic fault lines.

Quake jolts Borazjan in southern Iran

An earthquake measuring 3.8 on the Richter scale jolted outskirts of the city of Borazjan in the southern province of Bushehr early Wednesday.

The seismological base of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, registered the quake at 02:47 hours local time (2317 GMT on Tuesday).

The quake was epicentered in an area measuring 51.09 degrees in longitude and 29.18 degrees in latitude, the report added.

There are no reports of any casualty or damage to property caused by the quake.
