Berlin, Jan 4, IRNA-Germany's Ruhr theater group will perform William Shakespeare's 'King Lear' and Georg Buechner's 'Danton's Death' at the Fajr International Theater Festival, due to take place in Tehran from January 10 through 18, DPA quoted an unnamed spokeswoman of the Ruhr theater group as saying in the western town of Muehlheim on Thursday.
The German ensemble will also attend podium discussions with the Iranian audience as well as workshops.
Meanwhile there are plans for signing a letter of intent between the Ruhr theater group and Iran's Dramatic Arts Center, the spokesperson added.
Under the planned agreement, there will be an exchange of plays, co-productions and workshops over the next three years.
Steady cooperation between the German theater and the Dramatic Arts Center dates back to 2001 when a German-Iranian co-production performed Federico Garcia Lorca's 'Bernarda Alba's House'.
The Ruhr theater group has staged several plays in Iran since 1998 while Iranian ensembles have captivated German audiences with their theatrical skills.
The German ensemble was the first western theater group to perform in Iran since the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
