Khorramshahr, Khuzestan Prov, Jan 10, IRNA-A French container ship docked in Iran's southwestern port of Khorramshahr on Tuesday.
According to the Khorramshahr Ports and Shipping Department, the ship is the first European container vessel to have docked in Khorramshahr port since after the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979.
The ship, carrying goods from the United Arab Emirates, offloaded its cargo at Khorramshahr port without delay.
The French CMI shipping company, the ship's owner and the world's fourth largest, is to ship goods to Iraq via the Shalamcheh international border in southwestern Khuzestan province in the near future.
Total volume of goods loaded/offloaded at Khorramshahr port is expected to reach one million tons by the end of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20, 2007).
Khorramshahr port used to load/offload 4.5 million tons of goods annually before the Iraqi-imposed war (1980-88).
