Iranian commander: Enemy plots will be punished

TEHRAN, Jan. 12 (ISNA)-Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps commander commented that the U.S. and some European countries such as the U.K. had stuck in the Iraq war swamp.

"The U.S. neither can move on nor can it move back. It has spent more than three hundred and fifty billon dollars and suffered more than five thousand troops loss in Iraq, but still after all this time it has not yet reached what it aimed for when it attacked Iraq," said Brigadier General Rahim Safavi.

"The U.S. intended to establish a secular parliament, secular Constitution and place one of their own as Iraq's new leader, but this never happened. The U.S. was defeated in Iraq. The U.S. no longer possesses any international dignity and it is considered a terrorist state which has no respect for international or humanitarian laws. All now that the U.S., the U.K. and Israel stand at the center of all evil," he emphasized.

"Our nation also warns those Arab countries which have damned themselves through pledging alliance with the U.S. and the U.K. to stand against the powerful Islamic Republic. Saddam's destiny must be viewed as a lesson for all regional countries," he added.

"Our foreign policies are concentrated towards regional peace, serenity and security, but enemies should know that any plot against us will be faced with utmost power and punishment," this official stated.
