TEHRAN, Jan. 15 (Mehr News Agency) -- Iran plans to install over 3000 centrifuges to enrich uranium at the Natanz enrichment facility and the process is currently underway, government spokesman Gholam-Hossein Elham said here on Monday.
"We need to install 3000 centrifuges to produce nuclear fuel and increase the number of centrifuges," he told reporters.
Iran needs to build ten nuclear power plants to produce 10,000 megawatts of electricity in the coming years, he added.
"All these activities are under International Atomic Energy Agency supervision," he explained.
Elham also confirmed earlier announcements that Iran would be celebrating its mastery of nuclear technology during the "Ten-Day Dawn Celebrations" (February 1-11), which mark the anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979.
The UN Security Council voted to impose sanctions on Iran's trade in nuclear materials and technology on December 23.
Elham said that resolutions would have no effect on Iran's determination to master nuclear technology.
