Following the production of the French car models Peugeot 405 and 406 in Iran, the nation's major auto producer, Iran Khodro Co. has decided to import other models and versions of the car in particular, Peugeot 407 sedans, in the spring of the next year (Iranian calendar year begins March 21, 2007).
Iran Khodro is expected to sell around 2,000 of the imported passenger cars in the next year, the Persian service of ISNA said here, on Wednesday.
Peugeot 407 will be available in Iran in 2.2-liter, 120-hp gasoline engines as well as the 2.7-liter, 150-hp diesel fuel engines. They are to be offered in both manual and automatic transmission options. The car is expected to go on sale in Iran with a price tag of between Rls.300 million and Rls.400 million (roughly around 38,000 USD).
