Zagros Sports of Spain receives the prize for "Companies for Equality"


Zagros Sports
 (www.zagrossports.com) a chain of high quality sports clubs in the Alcobendas municipality (north of Madrid) in Spain won the first price for equality at work between men and women.

The 1st Paragraph of the news report (in Spanish) reads: The City Hall of Alcobendas has awarded Indra Sistemas and Zagros Sports as Companies for Equality and Conciliation 2006, for recognition of their work in favor of integration and promotion of women in the labor market and adopting measures to promote conciliation at work as well as personal and family life.

The club Zagros Sports was founded in 1998.  Currently it has over 100 employees, and around 4,000 members consisting of many prominent figures of the Spanish society.

This is from the first page of the General Manual of the company which is given to all employees:

The name of the club is Zagros and its logo is formed by flames of fire and the head of a bull.  The name refers to a mountain range in Iran which according to the Persian mythology housed the eternal fire.  Fire represents vitality and purification.  The bull in many civilizations such as Spanish also represents power and strength and it is said that from the blood of the bull the universe was created.
