Tehran, July 1, IRNA - President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Sunday officially welcomed his Venezuelan counterpart Hugo Chavez.
During the official ceremony held at the Presidential Office, national anthems of the two countries were played and the two presidents reviewed a guard of honor.
After the ceremony, Ahmadinejad and Chavez are scheduled to hold private talks. The two presidents will then preside over talks to be held between ranking delegation of Iran and Venezuela.
Chavez, who arrived in Tehran late Saturday at the head of a high-ranking politico-economic delegation on an official three-day visit, is to meet with Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei and Ahmadinejad.
On the second day of his tour on Monday, the Venezuelan president is to visit economic and energy projects in Iran's Assalouyeh Special Zone.
Chavez, who is visiting Iran for the second time during the presidency of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, was welcomed at Tehran Mehrabad International Airport by Minister of Industries and Mines Alireza Tahmasbi.
The Venezuelan president's current visit is the last leg of a tour that has taken him to Russia and Belarus.
